From Dubai, to the world
Dubai’s experimental bakery bkry is expanding fast after a year of overwhelming success at its flagship in Alserkal Avenue. Known for its craft-driven approach to baking, sustainable sourcing, and open kitchen design, the homegrown brand is preparing to open several new branches across the UAE and beyond.
The Rise of a Homegrown Hero
When bkry opened its doors in Alserkal Avenue in June 2024, it quickly became one of Dubai’s most talked-about bakeries. From morning queues that stretched across the creative district to visitors driving in from Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah just to try its signature croissants, the brand proved that a bakery could be more than a place to buy bread – it could be a cultural destination.
The secret behind its success lies in its transparency and attention to detail. Guests can watch the bakers in action, see grains being milled, and experience the rhythm of a kitchen where everything is made from scratch. This hands-on, open format gave customers a sense of connection to the process, while the bakery’s minimalist design and warm hospitality added to its appeal.
The Bigger Picture
After perfecting its first location, bkry is now looking to share its craft with a wider audience. Several new branches are in the works, including two in Abu Dhabi, one in Sharjah’s Thara district, and another in Dubai’s Nad Al Sheba Mall. The international debut will take place in Cairo’s Fifth Settlement, inside the Waterway Branded Residences.
The Nad Al Sheba branch, expected to open in early 2026, will reflect bkry’s signature philosophy through an open bakery concept designed by Mula Design. The space will feature recycled and upcycled materials such as DateCrete, blending modern design with sustainable values. Meanwhile, the Cairo outlet, set to launch in late 2025, will introduce bkry’s distinctive pastries to Egypt, pairing its established menu with locally inspired flavours and regional ingredients.
What Makes bkry Special?
At its core, bkry is about process and purpose. Every loaf and pastry begins with a focus on high-quality, responsibly sourced ingredients. The team collaborates with ethical suppliers and prioritizes sustainable production methods, ensuring that each element of the bakery’s supply chain reflects its values.
bkry’s kitchens are laboratories of flavour and innovation. The menu evolves constantly, merging traditional European techniques with contemporary twists such as miso caramel, candied citrus, and fermented grains. This constant reinvention keeps regulars returning and positions bkry as one of the region’s most forward-thinking bakeries.
Design also plays an integral role. Each space is envisioned as a reflection of the brand’s philosophy – minimal, inviting, and transparent. Guests don’t just eat at bkry; they experience the story of their food from start to finish.
