The lanes of Alserkal call
Fine dining fiends take on street food – that’s CarniVibes Curbside Alchemy for you, back to the lanes of Alserkal Avenue for Volume 3, and your fighters this season are a group of some of the biggest and boldest names in the world of gastronomy in Dubai.
Taking place this Saturday 15 November at CarniStore, Alserkal Avenue, CarniVibes is a street food festival fuelled by a love for community, all about celebrating the fire, flavour and earnest design of the street food experience. No white table cloths, no silver excesses – just plain, good old handheld bites, savoured for exactly what they are.
Casual favourites are given the fine dining makeover, boundaries are pushed, unexpected combinations are invented and a lot of fun is had, guaranteed, because what these chefs are hoping to do is bring the city together in a way you can’t in fine-dining – a level playing field, which is the essence of street food.
The Chefs
The soul of CarniVibes are, of course, the chefs that are bringing it to life, and this year’s lineup is one to watch out for. Chef Margarita Vaamonde of Soul Kitchen, Chef Kelvin Kelly of The Growhouse by One Life, Chef Carmen Rueda Hernandez of BRIX Group, Chef Penelope Diaz of Fusion Ceviche and Chef Milan Jurkovic of Piehaus – five names, five dishes.
All these chefs are at the helm of homegrown brands, born and bred in Dubai, for Dubai, by Dubai, which is perhaps the most important part of CarniVibes – celebrating our own, giving them a platform to experiment, explore and step out of their comfort kitchens so that we, the people, continue to receive new experiences to take home.
This all makes sense, because CarniStore is of the same origins. Two men – Dan Wanies and Fikry ‘Fix’ Boutros, with a passion for all things meat, got together and this homegrown butcher and smokehouse was born.
CarniStore delivers premium cuts, sides and accompaniments to your doorstep, but it’s more than just about meat supply. It’s about helping the people understand the importance of high-quality butchery. Think the highest selection of hormone-free, ethically sourced meats, slow American oak-fired briskets & ribs, weekly variety boxes, wagyu burgers, sausages and more.
