Meet the new star of Pitfire Pizza’s Box Art Program
The Box Art Program is perhaps one of the most exciting parts of Pitfire Pizza’s delivery experience (of course, after the fantastic pizza itself).
A little colour and imagination to feed not just your hunger, but also your eyes, the program started as a way to connect Pitfire’s pizza culture with the art world, and has grown into an annual collaboration.
As a valuable creative tradition of the Pitfire Pizza ethos, this program has been running for the past eight years, and for its latest edition, the star of the show is Fathima Mohiuddin, also known as Fatspatrol, a global multidisciplinary artist with a homegrown connection.
For the foreseeable future, every order of a large, 15” pizza box will come with Jerry Garcia, lead guitarist and vocalist of the Grateful Dead, unequivocal rock legend and the unofficial mascot of the brand.
A picture of vibrant colours, bold strokes and a hint of vintage poster culture, this is a fiery new centerpiece that embodies the freedom and power that Garcia personified, and Pitfire aims to echo.
Fatspatrol, based in the UAE, has been painting the town red, quite literally, all over the world. Her murals and street art span cities around the globe.
She’s created art across 10 countries, from Jordan to Malaysia, curated urban art initiatives across the UAE, collaborated with brands like Red Bull, and worked on outreach projects with vulnerable communities in Jordan and India. In 2010 she founded The Domino, one of the UAE’s first artist-led creative consultancy dedicated to urban art.
