TakaHisa Makes History as First Middle East Member of the Dom Pérignon Society

A first for the region

TakaHisa, Dubai’s acclaimed Japanese fine dining restaurant, has achieved a regional milestone as three of its team members have been inducted into the Dom Pérignon Society — the brand’s global community of elite chefs and sommeliers. Chef Takashi Namekata, Chef Hisao Ueda, and Head Sommelier Ram Hari Khadka were appointed as the first and only representatives from the Middle East, with Khadka also making history as the first Nepalese member.

The Dom Pérignon Legacy

Earlier this year, the trio travelled to Champagne, France for an exclusive immersion into the Maison’s heritage, philosophy, and craftsmanship. The experience deepened their understanding of Dom Pérignon’s approach to fine dining and the aesthetic principles guiding each vintage.

Led by Chef de Cave Vincent Chaperon, the Dom Pérignon Society brings together over 130 chefs and sommeliers across 27 countries, united by the Maison’s belief in creativity, emotion, and shared discovery.

A Celebration of Culinary Collaboration

To mark the achievement, TakaHisa hosted an intimate dinner in honour of Chaperon, featuring a tasting journey that paired Dom Pérignon Vintage 2015 and Rosé Vintage 2009 with a specially curated menu by Chefs Namekata and Ueda. Guests were also treated to an exclusive preview of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2008 – Plénitude 2, ahead of its global release.

A New Chapter in Fine Dining

The appointment of TakaHisa’s team members signals the beginning of an ongoing creative collaboration with Dom Pérignon, promising future experiences that continue to push the boundaries of fine dining artistry and champagne pairing.
