London’s Iconic Barrafina is Coming to Dubai

Spanish counter dining lands in DIFC

Dubai’s dining calendar is already heating up for the year ahead, and one of January’s biggest openings comes with serious culinary credentials. Much-loved Spanish restaurant Barrafina is officially opening its doors in DIFC, marking the brand’s first international outpost in almost two decades.

Opening on Monday January 26 in Gate Village 1, Barrafina Dubai arrives under the umbrella of Anthem Hospitality Group, bringing with it the intimate, counter-style dining experience that has made its London restaurants globally renowned.

Known for its no-frills approach to exceptional Spanish food, Barrafina has built a cult following thanks to its open-kitchen counter seating and focus on top-quality ingredients. The Dubai outpost stays true to that formula, with just 55 seats arranged around the signature counter, placing chefs firmly in the spotlight.

The design mirrors the brand’s instantly recognisable aesthetic: a marble and stainless-steel counter, red leather stools, and bold artwork by British artist Kate Boxer, all combining to create a space that feels polished yet effortlessly relaxed.

Fans of the original can expect plenty of familiar favourites. Much-loved dishes from the flagship menu are making their way to Dubai, including the classic Spanish tortilla, gambas rojas, and chicken thighs with romesco.

There are also exclusive dishes created especially for Dubai, such as daily clams with salsa verde and a premium selection of Galician dry-aged beef, adding a local twist to the Barrafina repertoire.

Between lunch and dinner services, the restaurant shifts into a more relaxed mode with a para picarsnack menu. Ideal for late afternoons in DIFC, it features bites like white anchovy tostadas, prawn croquetas, and indulgent Spanish bikini sandwiches layered with tuna belly and caviar, best enjoyed out on the terrace.

The drinks list keeps things firmly rooted in Spain, with a carefully curated selection of Spanish wines, vermouths, boutique cava producers, and a concise menu of classic cocktails designed to complement the food rather than compete with it.

With reservations now open and serious hype already building, Barrafina Dubai is shaping up to be one of the city’s most sought-after tables this winter.
