CASSETTE is Turning Music Into a Dining Experience

Feed all your senses

If you’ve ever wondered what a playlist would taste like, Dubai café CASSETTE thinks it has the answer.

To celebrate World Music Day, the Al Quoz favourite unveiled its first-ever Soundtrack Menu, a new dining concept that transforms iconic music genres into themed dishes, complete with dedicated Spotify playlists that guests can listen to while they eat.

Launching with a tribute to 90s Hip-Hop, the limited-edition menu takes inspiration from some of the genre’s biggest names, including Biggie Smalls, Nas, 2Pac, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, turning their lyrics, stories and cultural influence into a nostalgic food experience.

Located in The Courtyard, Al Quoz, CASSETTE has long been known for its strong connection to music, from curated playlists to its vinyl collection. Now, that passion has made its way directly onto the menu.

Created by Culinary Director Craig Small, the concept was developed through months of research, listening sessions and creative experimentation. Rather than simply naming dishes after songs, each plate aims to reflect the food culture, mood and cultural moments associated with a particular artist or era.

The result is a menu that reads more like a playlist than a traditional dining offering.

The Hip-Hop edition includes Ice Cube’s It Was A Good Day Breakfast, featuring beef breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes and hot sauce inspired by classic West Coast breakfast culture.

Fans of Nas can tuck into the Queensbridge Chop Cheese Burger, a nod to New York’s famous bodega staple, while Pac’s Last Supper reimagines American soul food with smoked fried chicken, waffles and hot honey.

For something heartier, Big Poppa T-Bone Steak & Eggs pays homage to The Notorious B.I.G. with chargrilled steak, creamy eggs and a Welch’s grape glaze. Dessert comes courtesy of The Chronic Chocolate Bar, inspired by Dr. Dre and packed with dark chocolate mousse, peanut butter praline, toasted marshmallow and cereal crumble.

The Soundtrack Menu is designed as an ongoing series, with a new musical genre taking centre stage every month. The experience combines food, nostalgia and storytelling, encouraging diners to connect flavours with the music that inspired them.

The Soundtrack Menu will run until September, with a different genre featured each month, beginning with Hip-Hop this month.

Available daily from 11.30am at CASSETTE, it’s one for music lovers, foodies and anyone who appreciates a little nostalgia with their lunch.
