Opening doors in DIFC
Dubai’s dining scene is about to get a major new arrival, with London’s two-MICHELIN-starred Gymkhana opening its doors in DIFC on September 1. The acclaimed Indian restaurant, part of JKS Restaurants, has now opened reservations for its highly anticipated UAE debut at Gate Village, Building 7.
The Dubai outpost will open for dinner from September, with lunch service set to follow in October. Reservations can be made via the restaurant’s website.
Leading the kitchen is Executive Chef Rahul Rana, working under Global Culinary Director Chet Sharma and JKS Co-Founder and Creative Director Karam Sethi. The menu takes cues from the rich culinary traditions of North India, with influences from the South and West, spanning Nashta, Kebabs & Tikkas, Game & Chops, Curry & Biryani and Sabzi.
Fans of the Mayfair original will find signature dishes including Kid Goat Methi Keema & Salli, Tandoori Masala Lamb Chops with Walnut Chutney, Achari Paneer Tikka and Chicken Butter Masala.
Dubai will also get its own line-up of dishes, including Fatechand Kachori Chaat with Green Mango, Chettinad Duck Dosa with Coconut Chutney, Makhmali King Crab and Malai Pyaaz, Wagyu Beef Sukka with Bone Marrow and Goat Shank Nihari. Sweet-toothed diners can look forward to Rasmalai and Emirati Qishta and Gajar Ka Halwa Soft Serve.
Designed by Samuel Hosker of North End Design alongside Karam Sethi, the restaurant spans two levels and a terrace, with space for up to 137 guests. The interiors reinterpret Gymkhana’s Mayfair aesthetic through a lighter green palette, Indian stained glass, rattan and cane detailing, reeded timber, Murano lights and artwork inspired by India’s historic gymkhana clubs.
Downstairs, the Peacock Bar and mirrored, jewellery-box ceiling create a more dramatic setting, while a private dining room can seat up to 14 guests or host up to 30 for standing events.
Founded in Mayfair in 2013, Gymkhana earned its first Michelin star within nine months and its second in 2024. Its Dubai arrival marks the latest step in JKS Restaurants’ international expansion, following outposts in Riyadh and Las Vegas.
