Murmur: A New Emirati-Owned Concept in Sharjah

Homegrown with heart

Sharjah’s dining scene has welcomed a fresh addition with the opening of Murmur, the emirate’s first homegrown Emirati fine-dining concept. Now open in Aljada, the contemporary bistro is serving a menu inspired by the movement of people, cultures and flavours, offering a fresh take on regional cuisine.

Named after murmuration – the mesmerising formations created when birds move together in flight – the restaurant draws on the idea of travel, connection and discovery. The result is a menu that combines familiar GCC flavours with international influences, creating dishes that feel both comforting and unexpected.

The menu reimagines regional favourites through a contemporary lens. Starters include Machboos Arancini, transforming the beloved Emirati rice dish into crisp, bite-sized morsels, while the Bombay Butter Arayes pairs butter chicken with house-made naan pockets. There’s also a Wagyu Short Rib Hummus, featuring black chickpea hummus topped with braised beef short rib and truffle.

For mains, standout dishes include the Musakhan Lasagna, layered with beef musakhan ragout and fried onions, the Murmur Burger served on a matcha Hokkaido milk bun with coffee bacon jam, and the slow-braised Marrakesh Lamb, inspired by flavours from across the region.

Desserts continue the theme of familiar flavours with a twist. The Karak San Sebastián cheesecake pays tribute to one of the Gulf’s favourite drinks, while the warm Baked Pecan Cookie is designed to be shared around the table.

Alongside the menu, Murmur has developed a beverage programme featuring house-made sodas and signature drinks created to complement the dishes, moving beyond the usual soft drink offering.

The interiors reflect the restaurant’s philosophy of thoughtful design, with handcrafted tableware, warm finishes and an atmosphere designed to encourage conversation and shared dining experiences.

According to founder Saeed AlGaz, the concept was created to celebrate the UAE’s multicultural identity while remaining rooted in local flavours.
