REIF Kushiyaki Serves Up a Japanese Culinary Journey

Take a tour of Japan, right here in Dubai

Fancy tasting your way around Japan without the airfare? This September, REIF Japanese Kushiyaki is celebrating Kushi No Hi – Japan’s Skewer Day – with a month-long menu inspired by four distinct regions of the country.

Running from September 4 to 30 at REIF’s Dubai Hills venue, the Kushi No Hi experience costs AED178 per person and brings together four skewers showcasing different Japanese flavours and cooking techniques.

Kushi No Hi falls on September 4, with the name playing on the Japanese pronunciation of the numbers nine (ku) and four (shi). Rather than limiting the celebration to one day, REIF is turning it into a month-long affair. The menu travels from Kagoshima to Fukuoka, Hokkaido and Nagano, highlighting ingredients and flavours associated with each region.

First up is Kagoshima, with Satsuma wagyu paired with enoki and kizami wasabi. Next comes Fukuoka, where chicken tenderloin is topped with shiso and mentaiko mayo.

Seafood takes centre stage in the Hokkaido skewer, combining scallop and hamachi with burnt garlic yuzu butter. The final stop is Nagano, represented by asparagus served with sesame dressing.

The sauces come on the side, giving diners the freedom to mix and match flavours as they work their way through the four-region tasting.

Chef Reif Othman has put his own spin on each skewer, drawing on the regional ingredients and traditions of Japanese cuisine while keeping the playful, street-food-inspired approach REIF is known for.

The limited-edition set will be available throughout September exclusively at REIF Japanese Kushiyaki in Dubai Hills Business Park, with reservations recommended.
