A Filipino bakehouse, coming soon
Dubai folk, say hello to Breadwinner, a new Filipino bakery founded by celebrated chefs JP Anglo and Nouel Catis, making its debut with a weekend pop-up at One Life in Dubai Design District (d3), running every Friday to Sunday throughout July.
Born from years of friendship and conversations over coffee, Breadwinner is all about celebrating Filipino flavours through handcrafted breads, sandwiches and desserts. The concept promises familiar favourites alongside inventive creations, blending tradition with creativity and plenty of heart.
Chef Nouel Catis, the Dubai-based pastry chef widely recognised as the creator of the original viral ‘Dubai Chocolate’, is known for developing the now-famous Pistachio Kunafa Chocolate Bar, combining chocolate, crispy kunafa and pistachio cream. His award-winning pastry expertise has helped shape dessert menus and concepts around the world, and now his very own brand, SNA’AP Chocolate.
Joining him is Chef JP Anglo, the acclaimed chef behind Dubai’s popular Kooya Filipino Eatery and the Sarsa restaurant group in the Philippines. A fixture of the industry, JP has built a reputation for elevating Filipino comfort food with a modern touch, earning multiple accolades over the years.

The menu focuses on freshly baked breads, Filipino-inspired sandwiches and desserts, showcasing both chefs’ passion for quality ingredients and thoughtful craftsmanship. While some flavours will evoke nostalgia, others promise unexpected twists, reflecting the bakery’s philosophy of having “no rules and no boundaries – just honest food.”
If you’ve been looking to explore Filipino baking beyond the classics, this is one pop-up worth adding to your weekend plans. Breadwinner will be serving at One Life in Dubai Design District every Friday to Sunday throughout July, with fresh bakes available while stocks last.
