Tokyo Meets New York at Shinobi

Handrolls for days

Dubai’s Japanese dining scene has a fresh new addition. Shinobi, a premium casual handroll bar from Monarch Hospitality Group, has officially opened its doors on Al Wasl Road, bringing together the fast-paced energy of New York with the craftsmanship of Tokyo.

Designed for everything from quick lunches to laid-back evening dinners, the new concept puts freshly made handrolls centre stage, alongside an atmosphere fuelled by music, art and street culture.

The menu revolves around made-to-order handrolls, prepared with warm rice, crisp nori and premium seafood sourced from around the world. But there’s plenty more to tuck into, with nigiri, sashimi, tacos, salads, hot dishes and desserts all making an appearance.

Behind the menu are chefs with experience at Nobu, offering a modern take on Japanese cuisine while keeping the focus firmly on quality ingredients and precise execution.

Shinobi isn’t aiming to be just another Japanese restaurant. Inspired by the street culture of Tokyo and New York, the interiors combine bold design, curated music and an urban atmosphere that feels as much like a social hangout as a dining destination.

Music plays a major role in the experience, with playlists spanning old-school hip hop and contemporary beats, all delivered through a high-spec sound system. Expect regular DJ sessions to keep the energy high throughout the week.

To match the food, the drinks menu features house-made sodas and kombuchas alongside coffee and tea, all designed to complement the flavours of the menu.

Shinobi officially opened on Monday 6 July and is now welcoming guests daily at Villa 8, Al Wasl Street, Jumeirah 2. Doors are open from 5pm until midnight, making it an ideal new spot for dinner, late-night bites or a casual catch-up with friends.
