Duck & Rice Dubai: London’s Cult Cantonese Pub is Coming to DIFC

London’s latest export

Dubai’s restaurant scene is about to welcome another major London export. Duck & Rice, the popular concept that combines a traditional British pub with a Cantonese kitchen, is preparing to open at DIFC Square, marking its first venture outside the UK.

Known for bringing together two seemingly different dining traditions under one roof, the restaurant has built a devoted following in London thanks to its lively atmosphere, polished interiors and menu centred around Cantonese classics.

Founded by restaurateur Alan Yau in Soho, Duck & Rice first opened its doors with a concept that stood apart from the capital’s crowded dining landscape. The venue paired the familiar setting of a neighbourhood pub with a kitchen focused on Cantonese cooking, creating a dining experience that felt both relaxed and distinctive.

The brand later expanded to Battersea, and Dubai will now become its third location and first international outpost.

While details of the DIFC venue are still under wraps, guests can expect the same energetic spirit that made the original a success, blending social drinking, stylish surroundings and a menu packed with signature dishes.

As the name suggests, duck will play a starring role on the menu. One of the restaurant’s best-known dishes is the Duck & Rice, featuring Cantonese roast duck served alongside fragrant jasmine rice and fresh cucumber.

Another standout is the Cantonese House Roast Duck, a dish that has become synonymous with the brand in London.

Beyond the signature poultry offerings, the menu is expected to showcase a wider selection of Cantonese-inspired favourites. Diners can look forward to dishes such as curry soft shell crab, lobster laksa and crispy duck fried rice, alongside a selection of dim sum that reflects the restaurant’s Chinese culinary roots.

The arrival of Duck & Rice adds further momentum to DIFC Square’s growing line-up of international dining concepts. The opening follows news that more venues like Saddle, Hudson & Rye and Cake & Bubbles are also set to open this year.

For food lovers always searching for the city’s next big restaurant opening, Duck & Rice is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated arrivals of the year.
